News: CoTrain sponsor the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2020

03 September 2020

Virtual awards were held on 2 July 2020

CoTrain proudly sponsored the Apprenticeship Initiative award at the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2020. On Thurs 2 July 2020, an online Judging Day & Awards Ceremony were held where 18 winners were eventually crowned the best of the built environment in the London & South East region.

The Apprenticeship Initiative was awarded to Waterproof Membrane Installer Apprenticeship by Langley Waterproofing Systems, fighting off stiff competition from three other finalists. Richard Bielski, CoTrain Programme Director, joined the judging panel of industry experts to assess the top two finalists in a 'head-to-head' judging session. After deliberating, the top two finalists delivered a 60-second elevator pitch before the announcement. >>> You can watch the highlights here

CoTrain is proud to support the awards - which elevate and celebrate companies and organisations in our region pushing for excellence, innovation and collaboration. Learnings can be identified and widely shared - allowing everyone to benefit. The awards aim to be inclusive and accessible to all - encouraging entries from across the built environment.

Extract from the winner's blog post:

"Recognising the need to address the skills gap, the government has pledged to create three million apprenticeships and has worked with employers to define how these apprenticeships should be shaped in order to create valuable and employable skills, under the ‘Trailblazer’ banner.

As the only flat roofing supplier awarded CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) status, Langley Waterproofing Systems Ltd is well placed to provide the new Waterproof Membranes Installer Standard through the Government’s Trailblazer initiative."
